Whitney and Parker from NYC need to know, "Where do I go to lunch in our work hood and beyond?"

Well, you are very lucky because when I worked in the Chelsea/Meatpacking district literally they had one restaurant that accepted credit cards and the Gansevoort Hotel was a parking lot. Now the world is your oyster. I'll start with the 10th Avenue Area and then move to when you're out of the office.

10th Avenue Rocks and it gets better every day. The luckiest of all is that restaurants that are so hard to get in for dinner, SERVE LUNCH. Lucky you. Go simple, at The Hafl King on 23-nothing better for beer and a burger. The Red Cat--how can you go wrong with tempura green beans. YUM. Even the chicken is an explosion of taste. How often can you say that?

Cookshop, well I'm a groupie. Five Points, Cookshop, Hundred Acres...all are just amazing. At Cookshop during the day I feel like a celebrity, its that great. And, I've never been there and NOT had a celebrity siting. Extra fun.

Nicole Farhi isn't on 10th, its at Chelsea Market, but its so close and the nicest place for a salad or something easy. Yes, good food can be sold around good clothes. Its the best of both worlds.

I always love Pastis in meatpacking, always good and of course Spice Market (see earlier reco's). So, I must give them a shout out.

Moving beyond lunch in your hood, here's dinner for when you leave the hood.

YES, there is great food on the Upper West Side. My #1 favorite restaurant on the Upper West Side is Community Food & Juice Bar (warning no rezzies, but worth the wait) this is not a health joint but it is healthy. It is the most sophisticated, down to earth, delicious food ever. I can recommend any of their specials. Its on 113 and B'way and its WORTH THE WAIT-Yes, I'll say it 2x. Recently they've had a sausage and pretzel special (insane) and they have a panko chicken that is so good. Their steak special is amazing and GRASS FED. Also, on the UWS, Dovetail for fancy occasion, Fatty Crab...please say its open soon, Kefi...the ultimate greek. We are lucky up here, despite the lines., Genarro, a standby italian. Acqua, a standby italian. Mermaid Inn-lucky us (see earlier entries). Bodrum, turkish mediteranean. Always good from brick oven pizzas to turkish specialties.

Moving away from the UWS, I'd say some other places on the MUST EAT LIST are...24 Prince, this is Nikki from Top Chef, its downtown and its just so fun and delish and creative. Awesome garden in summer. Tabla Bread Bar...everything is good, great for sharing, fabulous cocktails. BUT, the street sandwich with lamb is beyond description, you must just eat it, with onion rings of course. DO SHARE--ALLOWS YOU TO TASTE IT ALL. Last but not least, a small bistro called Camaje in SOHO that I love. Reasonable prices, delish food and fun cooking classes.

Is this enough to start? Let me know what you think. All are listed on opentable and menupages.
